Extra Credit Info
Extra credit: Students may earn extra credit for attending, summarizing, and evaluating relevant events on campus or in Duluth. Extra credit reports must be handed in at or before each Exam date to receive credit. No more than one extra credit report will be accepted in each segment of the course. Each event and summary raises the final grade by 1/2 of one percent. A total of 4 extra credit papers may be submitted (for a maximum increase of 2% on the final grading scale).
How to receive extra credit
- Attend a designated event or check with your instructor about an event not on the list.
- Write a 1-2 page report with 3 paragraphs
- Summarize the event: What was the main point of a talk? What was the film or performance trying to do?
- How does this relate to a sociological concept, or something about families? Be specific.
- What did you learn? How did it affect you? What would you like to know more about?
- Turn in your report before or on the day of the next Exam.
No more than one extra credit report will be accepted in each segment of the course; each segment ends with an exam.
Papers should be word-processed, double-spaced.
